Albay Gov. Joey Salceda
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Governor Joey Salceda issued a public advisory on Monday morning, July 14, 2014 to suspend all classes of pre-school children, both in the public and private schools here, after the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued an advisory that the province is now under signal number 1, due to Tropical Storm Glenda.
As chairman of Albay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), Salceda also ordered all Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (LDRRMCs) should be on heightened alert in their area of responsibility and monitor the status Typhoon Glenda.
He also ordered that residents along river system and steep slopes to pre-identify safer grounds and facilities for a possible evacuation in case of flood and landslide evacuation for disaster risk avoidance.
Meanwhile, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC), headed by Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol regional director Raffy Alejandro is set for an emergency meeting today, June 14, 2014, to update the preparedness and response capability of the OCD, DSWD, DILG and the response cluster, including the AFP, PNP, DOH, DPWH, PCG and other agencies.
The OCD Bicol also orders the implementation of No Sail Police by Philippine Coast Guard and Local Government Units in the Bicol region due to the effect of TS Glenda.
