Legazpi City, Albay — At least 28 police station chiefs and an intelligence officer in Bicol were relieved from their posts and sent to refresher training for one month after failing to accomplish their regular performance targets.
Chief Superintendent Victor P. Deona, Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) director, confirmed this weekend that the 29 police officials were relieved from their posts since June 13 and undergo retraining beginning tomorrow.
Deona said he ordered three chiefs of police (COPs) sacked in Albay; three more COPs in either provinces of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur; two each in Catanduanes and Masbate; and six in Sorsogon.
The other nine COPs were relieved earlier and are currently finishing their retraining. These compose of 2 COPS in Masbate; three in Catanduanes; two in Albay; and one each in the provinces of Camarines Sur and Sorsogon.
Deona refused to name names but said they will be given a chance to be reassigned once they have completed retraining. However, they will not be returned to their former posts.
“If they fail (again) three times, ibang usapan na yon (that’s a different story). (It would be) better for them to look for another job,” he said.
